A scientist had metal problems and thought the world needs to be free from human pollution. He made this box with a very strange power, it had some of the deadliest diseases and illnesses trapped inside and who ever opens it will not die but the rest of the human race will.

Well that was the story anyway…

It’s the year 2013 and there is a story going around which is about a strange box that a bunch of university students founding an old time capsule. My roommate was one of the people who found The Box, and because she was the most trusted person in the group she had to bring it back to our room. She left it in the bottom draw of her dresser; she went out one night to go out with her new boyfriend. I didn’t believe the box was cursed and it defiantly couldn’t kill off the human race, it was just a small box how something so powerless could hold something strong. After sitting on my bed thinking about this stupid box i went over to my roommate Lisa’s dressed and pulled the 20cm by 20cm box out of the draw, and sat back on the bed. my hands on the lid hesitating to open it.

“Sceeeeech!” the hinges of the box obviously haven’t been opened for many years. I slowly opened the box and it seemed like it screamed at me. Once the box was all the way open a strange blue light shone out of it and filled the whole entire room. I was scared and slammed the box shut, once it was closed I felt stupid for the way acted. Before i knew it i was fast asleep on the bed with the box on top of me…

To be continued..

The media never gives both sides of the story, its ways of manipulating and twisting truth and making money whether what they say is the truth or not. Journalists, media corporations, the Government and media consumers, all have a way in manipulating the truth and making money off it. Don’t believe everything you hear in the media. If you want the truth about anything, you have to read multiple sources, critically, and check the facts yourself. But if you do not, recognize that you are only getting one version of the story, which is manipulating “the truth.” I don’t think most reporters try to use both sides of the story in the news, though some clearly do. I think most are simply not informed or honest enough to recognize that this is what they are doing. Imagine a world where our knowledge of the world’s problems and issues are controlled by one body. Where we only know only what this body lets us see. What if they abused this power didn’t tell the truth and manipulated to make one public opinion. Well that world is the world we live in now, and the body I am talking about is the media. We need to start thinking for ourselves and realise that not everything we hear is exactly the truth.

Electric cars were created in the past they were quieter, faster and very powerful then any petrol powered car. Ten years later there are virtually none available. Other car companies and oil companies argued about the electric car, they thought it was a waste of time and money, and everyone thought the elctric car was a peice of crap, protesters argues to save the electric car becuase of such a good invention it is. It is a great Ulternative to petrol it would help save our earth from polution. There’s so much of a public health issue because of the amount of polution on our earth and in the earths atmosphere.

California killed the electric car madale, April 2002. Apparently the Electric car could only meet the needs of about a quarter of Calrifornia’s population, but if they kept selling the electric car and made different styles then they probably would live up to the needs of everyone in the world. On one single charde it can travel fro 400 miles, which is the same as you would be spending $100 a week on petrol fro an average car.

Huge piles of crushed electric cars lay in a junk yard tottaly unusable, such a great invernsion gone to waste. We should be able to fix the worlds polution issue. We have the technology or could create the technology and could make a massive difference to the world, but selfish people and oil/car companies dont want to loose their money. When great new technology comes out, no one uses it, Some of the technology is so very smart but just no one realises it, and what good it could do to the world. Clearly electric cars are more powerful then the most powerful and fastest pretrol car. I just dont understand why people would not want these awsesome cars!

There are estimated about 20 Species of Bowerbird, in which there are many different colours. The Bowerbird is known for its elaborate behaviour. During breeding season, males build a special platform, called a bower, on the forest floor to lure females, and they decorate it with rare objects such as feathers and shiny bits of glass, colours depending on the colour the Bower bird chooses and when building its nest it cant have any other colour except that one colour, this colour is mostly blue but can be yellow, if a Bowerbird thinks it can seduce a female with pink rather than blue they can choose and will decorate the Bower the way it wants. The Bower is shaped like a hut and everything has to be presented correctly, it is the tastes and fancies of the females that the Males have to create according to what they think the females will like. Once they have there nest decorated they do various vocalizations, hopping, and tail-bobbing, this attracts a females attention which leads to mating, the mood must be right for love. The Females go around judging how the males decorarating skills and chooses the best to mate with, the more impressive and colour categorized the bower is the more attractive she’ll find him and the more likely the female will choose that particular male to mate with. Also birds like peacocks and the widow bird which show of their beautifully coloured feathers to attract the female of the species. Are these behaviours like male humans trying to attract females… The best cars, the best fashion will it attract the best females…

A sweatshop is a work place, often a factory, in which employees work long hours at low wages under poor conditions. Although sweatshops pretty much disappeared after World War II so everyone thought because of government regulations, they have reappeared, and are a worldwide issue. It mostly occurs in countries around the world but mostly third world countries. Developing countries take advantage of cheap labour and avoid investigations from governments and human rights organizations. It is concerning that the making of goods for world markets at lowest possible costs so that they get maximize profit. Surprisingly, 1 out of 5 people know that sweatshops exist and actually do something about it, the others know about it but aren’t concerned about it to do anything. The Department of Labour says some factories in Indonesia violate two or more basic human rights laws, establishing them as sweatshops. Sweatshops exist wherever there is an opportunity to use workers who don’t have the knowledge and resources to stand up for themselves. Typical sweatshop employees, ninety percent of them are actually women, they are young and uneducated. Many of them don’t know about any of their legal rights. Young women throughout the world are forced to work under horrible working conditions because of corporations; many can get away with it.

Sweatshops violate women’s rights and human rights all around the world. In the Sweatshops give low wages that wouldn’t even pay for basic costs of living, substandard and unsafe working and living conditions, long hours of overtime for which employees are not aloud to refuse, and sexual harassment. Corporations and The Government both don’t know about the Sweatshops. The only people who know about the pore working conditions are the people running the factories. In Indonesia and other third world countries the people with less power don’t have a say in anything, they get scammed and don’t have their legal rights met.

World War II in the 1940’s there was a young man named Laurence, nick named Laurie. He was 21 and was English and was a soldier in the British Army. He was taken prisoner by the Germans and was sent to a Prisoners of War camp in Poland. Him and the other men in the Prisoners of War camp got sent to a railway yard everyday to do long hours of work unloading and reloading train wagons, they were made to carry heavy boxes and items a long distance to where they were to be held. He worked with other men from the Prisoner of War camp, and got to know a young man named Edward. As days went on they became good friends. The prisoners were made to follow orders by strict, well built guards in nasty looking uniforms.

Everyday he and the other men walked down to the railway yard, which was a 20 minute walk. When they got there they worked from 8am to 12pm got a 30 minute break then were made to work from 12:30pm till dark. The local girls from a nearby village in Poland, brought food to them and left it by the fence for Laurie and the other guys to have on their work break. Luckily the guards weren’t watching over them 24/7 so they could sneak down to the fence and eat the home cooked meals before the guards would notice.

The guards showed less and less interest in the soldiers knowing they couldn’t do anything beyond the fenced. On long tiring morning all the guys were exhausted from the loads of heavy boxes. They pretty much ran to the fence for the food and water the girls gave them, this time the girls actually stayed and asked what they wanted to make a special meal for them for tomorrow because it was Easter. The guys didn’t really mind as long as its food they’ll eat it. The guys started to talk to some of the girls, but unfortunately some of the girls found it to awkward to talk through the wire fence so they headed back. They found out the names of the prettiest girls in the village, Janina and Rula.

When it came Easter the girls as they said did up nice meals for the soldiers. It was a longer break because it was Easter. So the mean sat by the fence talking one by one with the girls, Laurie met Janina and thought she was a lovely girl and was easy to talk to, she had a great personality. Laurie’s friend Edward met Rula and they became friends and started talking and getting to each other. All that lunch break the guys talked and talked to the girls, and getting to know them, but once again time went by fast and they had to get back to work.

Janina and Laurie because really good friends, weeks went by and Laurie thought that he needed to let Janina know that he admires her. One break after eating his lunch he lent close to the fence and because Janina always sat directly in front of him on the other side. He gestured to her to come closer, he said ‘shhhh, I need to tell you something’, She leant closer and Laurie turned her head and kissed her, they fell in love!

Laurie and Janina, Edward and Rula were a little group now that never stopped talking unless the guys had to get back to work. The Soldiers woke up in the mornings excited about the days to come, this got them motivated through bad weather and heavy loads, they looked forward to seeing the girls for just 30 minutes a day.

Once the was over all the soldiers were transferred back to England, Laurie thought he would never see Janina ever again, once he got back to England and found somewhere to live the first thing he did was search for a way to contact Janina who he had fallen in love with at the railway yard. He finally got in contact with her, she went to England and Laurie ask her to marry him, she said ‘Yes!’. They lived in England for a while and had to kids, first born was Brian and second was Jan. After a while they immigrated to New Zealand, where they had two more kids, Mark then Dale.

How the media attempts to enslave you.

Slavery in first world countries these days is as much of an issue as any other type of slavery. Many people think that slavery only exists when someone more powerful has ownership of someone, and is cruel to them and forces them to do various things. But then again some people have no knowledge of it what so ever, for example, models and celebrities are slavery to the media and fashion, they don’t have there own rights. Also we get sucked into believing that Advertisements, Television, and even movies.

People think that everything on the television or in magazines is always true, but most of the stuff isn’t backed up by true facts, and they are just sucking people in and getting money off their products. Like all the ads selling various types of exercise machines which give you ‘GREAT ABS!’ in a short period of time. People then buy their product and find that it doesn’t do much. Also beauty products, they have celebrities wearing the make up so people take notice, but usually the celebrities are changed by computers and technology.

Models and Celebrities are slaves to the media by having to look a certain way, and dress a certain way. They have to do commercials and movies, which they have to have the right fashion and have tones of make up on or be skinny or fat enough for the role they are playing, or they won’t be accepted. Usually models have to look a certain way for magazines and fashion, and they have to be as skinny as a stick and have to be tall and have a certain facial structure. Models should be normal beautiful woman that aren’t super skinny anorexic females that have starved themselves to become who they are today.

Everybody these days cares about what they look like 24/7 and they have to have the latest fashion and brands that are in the magazines or just set by people like ‘queen bee’s’. Even guys feel they have to have the latest brand or they won’t be accepted in today’s society.

In conclusion people are slaves to the media whether they know it or not. Just because it’s on the TV doesn’t mean it exactly true, most companies put ads on the television so that people buy their product and they usually bend the truth a little. Nobody should believe everything in magazines or on TV or look up to the super skinny models and want to look and be like them, because in reality they don’t have such a great life after all, they are being told what to do and what to look like. Everyone is beautiful the way they are.

Beam is a long rectangular shaped beam, which you walk across. You can do most tricks on this that you do on floor, like handstands, cartwheels, leaps and spins. You have to have strong leg muscles and need to be able to control you body and keep it straight. You need really strong half muscles to be able to stand up on your toes, which is called relevate. Also you have to stay for long periods of time.

Floor Acrobatics, the name pretty much says it all. On the floor you do acrobatics like, handstands, somersaults, back flips, leaps, round offs, aerials, hand springs and the list goes on. You need speed, confidence and a lot of practice to be able do tricks on the floor. But that’s what gymnastics is for to master the tricks and learn new tricks and stunts.

Volt you have to sprint about15 metres and jump onto a beat board and do tricks onto crash mats. You mostly practice handsprings, forward somersaults, straight jumps, slit jumps. And again for this you need speed and accuracy and obviously the ability to do the tricks.

In strength we have to do things like, leg lifts, which is handing from a bar and lifting you legs to your chest a certain amount of times. Also we need to do back extensions, leg extensions, chin ups, wall sits, sprints, rope climb, and other challenging strength activities. These activities build up your strength and muscles, so you can do the rest of the tricks.

Trampolining, on trampoline you do tricks and flips, this needs a lot of practice because if you don’t do something correct you could get severely hurt. You practice things on tramp because you feel safer and its easier, and once you’ve mastered it at a later stage you would be able to learn those things on floor. On tramp you can do split jumps, leaps, flips (forward and back), handsprings, aerials, etc.

In the higher levels of gymnastics you need a lot of self control, strength and flexibility, these are the things you learn and get better at as you go along . Personally I think gymnastics is a really fun sport and I really want to get to higher level and better.
